And becoming a Social Media Manager could literally change your life.
This is because digital marketing is a skill.
A skill that can be learned and is in high demand. The creator economy is set to be worth trillions in the coming years and all these creators need support with their digital marketing to scale.
This means that as a Social Media Manager, you can easily build your business to six-figures and beyond as long as you have the right knowledge and expertise.
Sadly, being a freelance social media manager isn’t about playing on your phone and scrolling through TikTok or Instagram all day.
However, that doesn’t make it a fun job that you can take anywhere in the world.
Social Media Management can be incredibly rewarding, you’ll have a lot of responsibility and will likely undertake variety of different tasks including:
Because of the varied nature of the role, there are a bunch of skills you’ll need to develop to be successful in your Social Media Management business.
Of course, you’ll need to have some knowledge of the digital marketing space and how social media works, and although some social media managers get a lot of work “delegated” to them, many online business owners who are hiring will expect you to be a bit of a social media strategist, too.
The great thing about this though is that you can charge higher rates.
If you’re only just starting out as a social media manager, you may want to consider doing additional training or a course on the skills you need to develop as a social media manager. There are literally hundreds of great social media management courses available online that you can invest in to learn these in-demand skills.
If you already have the desired skill set; maybe you’ve worked in social media for an agency or have successfully grown social media accounts in the past, you might just need some help in the business side of things.

Your niche is the industry you want to work in whereas your ideal client is who you want to work with.
If you’re brand new to social media marketing and management, it might be that you want to try working with clients in different industries to start with to see who you enjoy working with the most.
It might be that you naturally thrive in specific industries and if you have any previous work experience in a specific sector, that might be a good place to start.
Of course, if you have a specific niche, it’ll be easier to master your messaging and give your copy some creative flair when marketing your social media management business.
However, if you nail who your ideal client is, what their problems and desires are, your messaging will be good enough to sign clients.
Your messaging is how you communicate your offer to your ideal clients and make it desirable.
It can be the difference between attracting low ball clients and those that don’t bat an eyelid about paying 4 figures+ per month for your services.
