Whilst having a website can help you to build your online presence, a website isn’t necessary to sell on Instagram.
If you’re a newer online business owner, the amount of things you have on your to-do list is probably overwhelming you right now. And truth be told, when I first started my online business as a Virtual Assistant, I didn’t have a website. Yet I still managed to make sales through Instagram. There are literally billions of Instagram users on the app every single day which makes it a prime place to make more sales.
Today, I’m going to walk you through the steps I would take to sell on Instagram without a website.
Because whilst I do think that having a website is important, the majority of my sales come through Instagram and other social media platforms.
A content strategy makes selling simple.
If you’re currently posting on Instagram off the cuff without any forward planning, then you’re losing money…it’s as simple as that.
A big sign that you’re doing this is if you don’t batch create your content in advance and are creating it the day you post it instead.
You see, when you’re creating content, you need to have a sales focus so that you know where you’ll be driving people to. Your sales strategy drives your content strategy.
I personally have a specific sales focus each month. This doesn’t mean I don’t sell other offers; May was a $37,000 sales month and June was a $50,000 sales month because I sold multiple different offers.
However, because my focus was on selling one specific thing at a time, it made it far easier to create content in advance.
As a bare minimum, I’d recommend planning your content at least two weeks in advance; a month is better. This is something I teach my students inside Social $ales Society and is what allowed some of the members to double their views on reels, get more reach than they’ve had in months on TikTok and some of them even make sales through Instagram after implementing the strategies.
I’ll talk about this until I’m blue in the face.
If you want to make sales on Instagram without a website, then you need to stop posting educational tips and tricks content.
Because right now, all your Instagram posts attract freebie hunters. You know, the kind of people who always message you in the Instagram DMs saying “oh I’d love to work with you but I just can’t afford it right now”.
Yes, it may get you a few likes and saves, however likes and saves won’t pay the bills and won’t land you high ticket sales in your business.
When you create content that takes your target audience through a journey, they start messaging you in the Instagram DMs with messages like “how can I work with you?”.
The moment I stopped posting educational tips and tricks content, my sales skyrocketed. I’m now earning 5x the amount I used to earn because I switched from educational content to content that took my ideal client through the buyer journey that made them want to buy.
If you don’t have a website and people can’t find you by Googling you, then you need to have a proactive marketing approach. This means showing up every single day and selling on your Instagram Stories.
We live in a time where we’re so fortunate to have free tools like social media to promote our online businesses. So don’t take Instagram for granted and make sure you’re utilising it to its full potential.
Whether you have ten people watching your Instagram Stories or 1000, these people are your VIPs and with the right story sales scripts, you can get them to buy your offer.
Despite what a lot of online business coaches tell you. You can make sales from Instagram without having to have a discovery call…even for high ticket offers.
I rarely hop on discovery calls anymore because it just doesn’t fit with the way I run my business and my mastermind is $10,000.
When you create content that builds that next level trust with your audience and they’re enquiring to work with you in the DMs, closing the sale becomes easy.
