Looking for ways to scale your coaching business this year so you can create more time, freedom and flexibility in your online business?
As someone who’s been a Business Coach for over 3 years now, earning over $420,000 through my 1:1 coaching, group coaching and passive offers and helping other coaches and service based business to grow and scale a profitable online business – whilst travelling full time – I wanted to make sure that I built a business that was scalable and sustainable so that I could live a truly freedom-based life.
I also wanted to impact more people with my coaching business, but I knew that my time was and always will be capped.
I came to the realisation that whilever I was trading time for money, I was limiting my impact and reach.
Which is why I went back to the drawing board, reflected on my why and my vision and completely overhauled my coaching business to make it more scalable and impactful.
Today I’m going to be sharing my lessons from doing so, so you can scale your coaching business, too.
Yes and no.
It depends on your approach, your offer suite and whether or not you’re trading time for money. Thinkific, a popular course sales platform, discussed in a recent article that coaching is inherently an active business making it difficult to scale.
I disagree.
The coaching industry is worth over $2.8 billion. It’s an in-demand industry and thankfully, hundreds, if not thousands of coaches scale their business every day.
And now there’s a way to do it passively whilst still delivering maximum impact.
So, how exactly do you scale your coaching business into a passive business model?
There are multiple ways to generate passive income as a coach, I’m going to discuss a few of these below.
One of the most popular earners for digital nomads and other online entrepreneurs, including coaches is affiliate marketing. It’s been around for years, but with the introduction of Tik Tok, I feel like affiliate income has been given a new lease of life.
Yes, it can be competitive, but it’s a great way to boost your income online recommending products and services you love. As a coach, I’m sure you’re always recommending products, services and tools to your clients…so why not earn a commission if they choose to invest in it.
If you’re a big coach, and know how to drive a lot of traffic to your website, you might also want to think about having ads on your site to boost your income.
You can drive more traffic to your website by taking popular questions you get asked in your industry (like the one at the top of this blog post) and building a content marketing strategy around it.
Ads don’t generate the most income in the world, but if people are on your site anyway, then why not scatter a few ads across your website.
Lots of people in the coaching or online service-based business space welcome referrals and will often pay you a commission for referring someone to one of their containers.
As a coach, you may want to partner with service-based businesses like marketers, OBMs and Virtual Assistants who you know deliver 110% and come highly recommended.
You can then refer your clients over or even build a directory of trusted partners on your website that has your referral associated with it.
NOTE: I only recommend doing this with people you know and trust in your space to deliver a quality client experience. You don’t want to affect your reputation by recommending people who underdeliver.
These probably won’t make you a millionaire but having tripwires are a great marketing strategy to adopt when creating free offers.
Basically, when someone signs up to one of your free offers through your website/landing page, a great way to turn this into an income generating opportunity is to offer them an upgrade at a “you’d be crazy not to” price.
Sites like Thrivecart allow you to do this in one simple step and it’s a great way to turn someone new into your world into a paying customer right away.
Low ticket offers also serve as a bit of a “try before you buy” way to serve potential future clients. If they get wins from your low-ticketed item, they’re likely to come back for more.
If you’re wondering how to build a freedom based business, then this is BY FAR my favourite way to not only generate passive income and scale a coaching business sustainably.
Creating an online course, like my new course, Freedom Course Creator, is a great way to transition from 1 to 1 coaching to 1 to many coaching and serve tens, hundreds, even thousands of students, depending on your goals for your coaching business.
As an experienced or fully booked coach, you’ll have plenty of data on what your ideal clients generally tend to look for help and support with and you have a LOT of skills that can be transformed into courses.
