How to Monetize your TikTok Account

Today’s post is all about how to monetize your TikTok account without having to get 100,000 followers, or joining the creator fund. 

For transparency, I first started my TikTok account around the beginning of 2021, but to be honest I didn’t really do much with my page at that point and only posted a few videos. 

I had one video go viral which brought in around 1000-1500 followers but nothing really happened off the back of that because I hadn’t really set up a TikTok funnel and wasn’t posting consistently enough.

Then in December of 2021, I decided to go all in. 

When I first started taking a more strategic approach to my TikTok journey, I managed to monetize my account within a couple of months, and since then, I’ve stayed consistent and brought thousands more into my business…and I’m still nowhere near 100,000 followers yet. 

I made the below YouTube video to document when I first started making money from TikTok (I made £93 selling a £7.99 course) and prove that you don’t need to have a huge following to get started, you just need to be consistent and have an offer that’s a no brainer. 

When Can You Monetize TikTok?

As you can see from the above, you don’t have to have tens of thousands of followers or be in the creator fund to make money from TikTok. 

I actually believe it’s one of the biggest misconceptions in the online space and you can start to think about how to monetize your TikTok account as soon as you set up your account. 

This will make you a lot more intentional with the kind of content you create. 

How Many Followers Do You Need to Monetize TikTok?

I started monetizing my TikTok with less than 5,000 followers and now I’ve made tens of thousands of pounds through TikTok with my current following being around 12,700. 

The truth is, if you have a powerful, converting content strategy and know your ideal client, you could monetize your TikTok with as little as a few hundred followers. As long as the right people are following you, that’s all you need. 

How to Make Money from TikTok 

So if you’re sitting here thinking, okay Claudia that’s great, but how do I start to monetize my TikTok?

I get it, the thought can be daunting at first, but all you really need is a  great TikTok marketing strategy that helps you to funnel traffic to both your free and paid offers. 

The great thing about the TikTok algorithm is that it’s really good at working out what kind of content you like and gives you more and more of that type of content. My friends’ For You Pages often look very different to mine as we have different interests. 

If you start posting consistent content, the algorithm will be able to work out exactly which kind of people it wants to push your content out to. 

The longer TikTok keeps users on the app, the more money they make. So it’s actually in TikTok’s best interests to put your video in front of people who are more likely to watch your content all the way through. 

Of course, this means you need to create content that keeps your audience enticed and entertained, but the more you post, the more data you’ll have about what types of content your audience resonates with the most; which is why I was posting 3-5 times a day in the beginning when I was growing my TikTok account. 

Setting up a High-Converting Sales Funnel

When I first started monetizing my TikTok, I did this by releasing a free offer that my TikTok followers can access through the link in my bio. 

This training was designed all around how to set up an online business. 

I don’t have this particular training on my link in bio anymore, but have two other options for those looking to create more freedom in their online business through growing and scaling a profitable online course. 

Anyway, this free offer was linked to my low ticket offer, my Biz Clarity mini course which is £7.99 and has a tonne of helpful resources to help aspiring online business owners land their first client.

At that price point, it’s a complete no-brainer offer for people who are genuinely interested in starting an online business. 

Then, off the back of purchasing this, people were (and still are) put into an email marketing sequence which then nurtured them into one of my signature courses, the Confident CEO Academy. 

Having a funnel  like this allowed people to test out what it’d be like to work with me at a relatively low investment and helped me to build that trust with my TikTok audience. Those that really wanted to take their online business journey seriously could upgrade to my course once they felt like I was the person to help them. 

And the strategy worked. 

When I launched the Confident CEO Academy in March 2022, I generated over £8000 of income for CCA through TikTok alone. 

Since then, as my TikTok account has grown even more, I have gone on to sell spots in my 1:1 coaching programmes, my course, Freedom Course Creator and I get people signing up to my free passive income course daily all through TikTok. I recently made a £7000 sale through TikTok…with just over 12,000 followers.
