Generating multiple income streams and building passive income is something that many of my clients and myself strive to achieve in our business.
Creating a freedom business means exploring new ways to to income stack and get creative with how I’m trading my time for money
So today I want to dig deeper about building your online course so you can add another passive income stream to your business.
The great thing about courses is that they’re a one and done kind of offer. So whilst building out the course initially will take time and energy, you can then market and sell your course on autopilot to supplement your income and live a life with more freedom.
Of course, this is something that I cover IN-DEPTH inside Freedom Course Creator, my signature online course that allows you to take your existing skills and transform them into a profitable course that creates more impact and income.
But today I’ll be covering the basics of online course creation to get you off to a flying start creating your first online course.
Let’s take a look.
First things first, is your course concept; what your course is about.
If you’re a Coach or an Online Service Provider, think about the questions/themes that are continuously cropping up from your clients.
From here, you can start to think about a core theme/course topic that your audience will be eager to buy and is in high demand. It should solve a common and specific problem and provide a specific transformation for your ideal clients.
My transformation for Freedom Course Creator, for example, is clear. it gives you everything you need to know to create, launch and sell a profitable online course using skills that you already have.
And there’s a HUGE demand for it. E-learning is worth billions of dollars.
When you’re coming up with a course idea, be sure to look outside of your existing audiences too.
Think about what people are searching for on search engines. You can use websites like Answer the Public to see what the most common questions people are asking in your niche.
Also, take a look at what questions people are asking on high profile social media accounts; they’re a great place to do passive market research – I personally do this on TikTok.
Spend a decent amount of time on this step. Get creative and curious and make sure all your findings go into creating an epic course outline. This will help you to stay on track as you build the course out.
Once you have your course idea/concept and have made an outline of what it’ll look like, it’s time to think about your unique framework for your course.
People like to be taken on a journey when they invest with you and want to know exactly what they’ll get from working with you.
If you feel like you don’t have a framework already, don’t worry because you probably do. You just haven’t realised it.
Your framework is essentially the process that all your clients go through when working with you on a specific offer.
For example, in Freedom Course Creator my framework is a 3 stage process that essentially covers conceptualisation of your online course, creating the course (while nurturing your audience) and finally, the conversion stage; launching your course and infusing buyer psychology in your marketing to encourage sign ups.
As you can see, I help my clients to make the most of their course creation process by blending their marketing/launch strategies.
Take some time to reflect on all the clients you’ve helped and map out what your framework can look like. If you can create a visual depiction of it and name it too, then it’ll appeal to your audience even more.
Once you’ve researched and outlined your online course, are clear on the transformation and are ready to start creating it, it’s time to think about the platform where you want to host it.
There are so many good course creation platforms out there. Finding the best course platform for you depends on things like budget, how you want your modules to be delivered (some course platforms allow content to be drip fed which avoids overwhelm) and what will give your students the best learning experience possible.
Your first few course students become your biggest testimonials so you want to ensure their experience is stellar and that everything runs smoothly.
Take some time after reading this post into which course platform is the best for your needs.
Once you’ve mapped out the above, you’re ready to start filming and share your course with the world.
You can film using software like Zoom or Loom, or even use the present mode on Canva and record that.
