Are you craving more freedom in your online business? Wondering how to become an online course creator so you can create passive income while living life on your terms?
In today’s post, I’ll be teaching you how to become an online course creator by walking you through my signature Freedom Course Creator Framework.
This framework allows you to simultaneously grow an engaged audience that wants to buy your course, while you’re actually building the course behind the scenes so you can create and launch your course efficiently and effectively and by 2023, be earning a steady stream of passive income from skills you already have.
Firstly, I’m going to address the question on everyone’s mind, are online courses profitable?
Absolutely.
When I first launched Freedom Course Creator, I had a £10,000 sales week and I still continue to make sales and will do long into the future thanks to my evergreen sales strategy.
But don’t just take my word for it.
Course platform, Teachable have reported that online course enrolment is up 425% and by 2026 the e-learning industry is going to be worth over $457 billion by 2026, up on previously forecasted estimates.
Plus, the benefit of an online course is that once you’ve created it, there’s no limit to how many people it can serve, because it doesn’t require you to be teaching live, so your earning potential is uncapped if you create something that’s desirable and know how to market it.
So how do you get started with becoming a course creator?
My signature course creation framework is broken down into three main stages, each of which have individual steps on how to plan, design and create your online course whilst simultaneously growing and nurturing your audience so they’ll be spicy hot and ready to buy when you open enrollment to your course.
Let’s take a more detailed look:
In order to successfully sell an online course, you need to create a course that people actually want to buy, which is where your market research comes in.
But before that I highly suggest you get clear on exactly why you’re launching this course, what your course creation journey will look like and how many sales per month you’d like to make.
Once you have this vision, you can start mapping out your course framework. This should be unique to you and incorporate everything you’ve learned on your journey so far. Make the framework easy to understand and ensure it doesn’t overwhelm potential students.
Once you have that clear framework and roadmap of how you’ll build out the course, you can work on the fun stuff.
Naming the course, pricing your course and working out your marketing and positioning strategy to grow your community across social media while building it. This will all help to create hype for your initial course launch and boost your sales on launch day.
Once you’ve done all the planning, it’s time to get into the thick of it and start to build out your course modules.
During this stage you’ll need to think about how you want to deliver the course and what course materials you want to create for students. Go back to your market research and see how your potential students said they like to learn best.
No matter how you decide to deliver your course (either through slideshow presentations or just speaking on video), at this stage, I highly recommend writing your course content.
You also want to think about how you’ll create a next-level student experience inside your course, because happy students will become your biggest marketers.
One way of doing this will be to keep them entertained and engaged throughout the modules so that they actually go away energised and ready to implement.
To do this you’ll want to create modules that are easily digestible and aren’t too long. Most of us have short attention spans and by separating everything into smaller chunks of information, your students will retain the information better and get better results.
Better results = raving fans = more course sales for you.
While you’re preparing all this behind the scenes, on the front-end, it’s a great idea to be hyping your audience up ready for your initial course launch. There are some great examples of this on my Instagram page in the lead up to the launch of Freedom Course Creator.
Last but not least is the conversion stage.
Behind the scenes, this is the stage where you choose a course platform to host your online course. There are many options out there but I highly recommend Teachable.
You’ll also need to set up a checkout so people can pay for the course seamlessly. I’ve recently invested in ThriveCart which is super user-friendly, is only a one-time payment and offers the option for students to pay in full or in instalments too.
And on the front end this is where you get to launch your course. I love launching and as a coach, I’ve launched multiple times and made 10s of thousands of £££ using my signature launch strategy.
After your initial launch is when you’ll switch to an evergreen marketing and sales model to help you bring in course sales on autopilot while you spend time living in your definition of freedom; whether that’s travelling the world, or just spending more quality time with friends and family. Now is the time to reap the rewards of the hard effort you’ve put in to creating this course.
Of course, you don’t have to solely market your course evergreen, you may want to repeat the live launch process once or twice a year to keep your audience extra spicy, but that’s something you get to decide based on your “why” and your goals you set out in Stage One.
I hope this post has given you some insight on how you can become a course creator.
And since you made it this far, be sure to download my online course creation checklist to help you implement everything I mentioned today.
Happy course creating!
