Sometimes it can feel as though there are so many others doing EXACTLY what your doing on Instagram – it can feel like overwhelming.
You end up comparing yourself to others and feel like you’re not going to be able to stand out above them.

I commonly hear new business owners say that the market is saturated.
That leads to a feeling of there’s not being enough work to go around. This isn’t true. The reason it seems oversaturated is because when it comes to online businesses such as Online service providers, Virtual Assistants, Copywriters, Graphic Designers and Coaches – there is such a high demand for these kinds of services, which in turn means there are a lot of businesses setting up to cater for this demand.
It does NOT mean there isn’t enough work to go around.
It also feels oversaturated because you’ve immersed yourself in the space where these businesses hang out. So to YOU it does feel like there’s a lot of other similar businesses. But if you look at the bigger picture – there’s probably a lot less of you than there are people looking for their next 9-5 job.
If you find a way to stand out, it won’t matter how much competition there is. But if a potential client is looking for someone who provides your service, but they find 10, 20, 50 people who all offer that service, how are they going to differentiate between you and everyone else out there.
How will they choose? Let’s talk about some of the ways that YOU can start standing out on Instagram
People don’t want to niche down because they are scared to narrow down their potential audience.
They feel as though niching down will narrow their choices but it’s actually the opposite. Niching down is going to help you stand out to the right people.
For example – if you are a virtual assistant but actually you mostly help with Instagram management or instagram marketing, if you brand yourself as a IG Manager or an instagram strategist, the exact people who need that service are more likely to find you.
just calling yourself a VA will make that much harder as there are SO many accounts out there with the title VA.
So already, niching down is going to help you to stand out.
Strong branding really can make you stand out.
You want to be the go-to person in the industry.
Here’s an example – if you go into the supermarket and you want to pick up some Ketchup- the first thing you think of is Heinz, right? That brand will probably jump right out in your head as the brand to go to when you go to get that Ketchup.
That’s an example of really strong branding.
You want the same thing to happen for you – when your audience has a specific problem in their business – you want them to instantly think of YOU as the solution to that problem, the person that can help you with that.
Your logo, your brand colours, your feed, the style of the graphics/photos. If you’ve nailed the visuals for your brand then people will know the content is yours without even seeing your name.

The second thing to think about (and just as important as the visuals)
Your brand story will help you to stand out.
People LOVE a story – so a great place to start:
WHY did you start your business?
What led you on this journey?
How can you talk about this in an inspiring and relatable way?
What are your values?
Think about what’s most important to you as a person, as a business & whatever your brand values are – if you’re able to display them through everything you do – you’ll naturally attract people with similar values.
Do you want to be known as the H&M of your industry – affordable ? Or the Gucci of the industry? – high end and luxury?
Think about what your target market needs and wants and what they will resonate with the most.
Share your expertise and knowledge.
Show your personality.
Talk to your audience -let them learn from you and hear you talk! Your audience can really get to know you better and can really build that trust with you if you show up on video regularly.
This might be on Instagram stories, on reels, on IGTV, Lives

This is the most important step but sometimes the hardest.
We fear judgement and this can hold us back from really showing up as ourselves.
But YOU are totally unique – so if you’re able to show up authentically and show up TOTALLY as you – you’re going to stand out naturally.
No one else is exactly like you.
I used to struggle with this myself – even with groups of friends and people I know, I find it hard to open up and just relax as myself.
So showing up on IG as myself did NOT come naturally to me. It took a lot of work and some mindset shifts before I could fully relax. But as soon as I did – the response from my audience was insane.
I started noticing a huge different in the amount of people who reached out wanting to work with me because they liked me, they could resonate with what I was saying.
This will make a huge difference to your business – it won’t happen overnight but it’s something to work on.
